We'd like to thank Ivan for helping us land the gig, driving around running errands in preparation for the gig and communicating on our behalf with the promoters and venue, and buying stickers for us to pass out. A special thank you goes out to Keisy for stepping up and ordering us 2000 wristbands! Another thank you goes to Abigail for assisting us at the shows with the crowd, promotion, social media, helping us engage with the people and getting emails for us. We'd like to thank Adelyn for her energy and efforts in passing out materials, getting us booked at Subrosa, and capturing footage. Thanks to Finding Home Pictures we were able to get the event streamed live and a video is in the works! Thanks to Gene for connecting us with Jeff, and thank you Jeff for plugging us with Space. A thank you to Sam for helping us manage the night and pushing the powers that be to let things run smoothly. Thank you Rafael for making a cameo! Ofcourse, thanks to friends and family that always find a way to support. YOU ARE PART OF THE TEAM!
1. It shouldn't be "Do-It-Yourself", it's more fun when it's "Do-It-Ourselves".
As noted above, it is almost impossible without the group effort.
2. Make sure your comp-lists and guest-lists are ready as soon as you are told to provide them.
Again, you want to take care of the special people who are taking time out of their lives to come out and work with you or party with you.
3. Bring all cables and connectors.
Technical difficulties are a bitch!
4. Be on time!
Sometimes bouncers are having a bad day. Make sure you account for any delays at the door. Yes, DJ's too. You need to make sure you're inside ready to greet your people, and also be prepared to vouch for them if they are having trouble with the line.
5. Be fearless.
Yes you want to have a polite attitude, and not be a problem to work with. You also don't want to get pushed around! We made sure our presence was noticed when we set up at the DJ booth. We raised a large flag by hanging up our LIFE IS SUITE banner and grabbed the people's attention. We let them know LIFE IS SUITE is on! It was not a problem with the venue, and if they would've told us to take it down we most likely would've complied with the house rules. Yet, we would've never known it was ok unless we had just gone ahead and did it. That was a lesson we learned because we had so many other ideas in mind that we didn't follow thru with because of being too cautionary with what would upset the venue. JUST HAVE FUN!!
LIFE IS SUITE writes like scholars.
"We be giving out tips!
Sorry we get a bit over excited."
